Today, we celebrate the Lord’s Work of Salvation for us on the cross, In honor of Good Friday, I wanted to give you all a gift: a sneak preview of one of my current works in progress. (There are a lot of creative endeavors, I’ve been tackling in my spare time.)
In What I Carried: A Novel, Simon of Cyrene’s story is unpacked further than just the few sentences we find in the Gospels.
Simon, a father traveling to Jerusalem with his two young sons, is forced to carry the cross of a man some call a criminal and blasphemer, while others call him the Messiah and Son of God. He befriends some of the man’s most devoted followers and must come to terms with his role in the man’s death, and decide if this “Way” he was thrust into is ultimately worth sacrificing everything he loves.
Enjoy the first two chapters absolutely free here! Let me know your thoughts and if you want more of Simon’s story in the future.
Happy Easter!
